Hello all,
I just wanted to apologies for not being able to attend the last two parent meetings, I am interested in coming, it’s just been a bit crazy over here…I’m sure you can all relate. Life is way to busy…arggg.
I’ll make sure to come to the next meeting. Thank you to all the have taken the time to be engaged with the process, it is a process but so worth while. For those of you that don’t know me, I’m Sarah and I have Hazel in the program and this will be her second year at Garibaldi. Looking forward to seeing you all on Thursday…I guess I better finish getting the kids costumes ready!
Many Blessings,
Sarah

Hi all,
This second parent meeting is getting us closer to the next two major hurdles for HL program.
The first is a working program mission statement.
The second is a GA HL PAC.
Regarding the mission statement, I am working on making available to us parents THE proposal that was submitted to the VSB.( Why we even have a program to call ours.)
It contains the mission statements for GA typical program, Frog Hollows programs, and the proposed HL program.
We don’t have to reinvent a wheel, we just need to shape it.
I am hoping that there is a respectful synergy with all the programs under Garibaldi’s roof.
The PAC – parent advisory committee, parent action council, parents and coffeecake, (It might be one of those.)
If I understand it correctly, the PAC helps the parents be responsible for what we should be doing.
In my opinion Shannon and Brigit, have been doing these tasks for us. But as you can tell I find this one elusive.
Brigit has offered to hire an independent facilitator to assist us with these two endeavors. Thank you.
We just have to pick a time and place to get ourselves together.
An evening or weekend?
And for those of you parents who don’t feel like processing, maybe you can watch the kids? Oh good, thank you.
If we split four hours, that’s two for each topic.
If we split hairs it will never get done.
Can we have a party when we finish?
comments please

It’s been just over a month of home learning goodness.
We are still in the midst of getting to know each other.
It’s an organic groove and as we gel ( individually and as a group)
I’m sure the rest will follow and flow.
This is a new year for all of us.
Something amazing was born here last Fall.
We are a toddler now.
The world is our oyster.
Let’s keep building and not forget some of the work that helped
swing this door open.
Mission statement- bring it on!
I suggest a party sandwich- with the meeting in the middle?
Thanks Everyone!

Hello Home Learner Fams,
Time to get cozy Folks!
Hope all are well.
I attended the recent Garibaldi PAC meeting on tuesday night. ( Oct.27,2009) It wasn’t a giant turnout but there was good energy
circulating and some great ideas came out of it.
Part of what I enjoy about this program is the interconnectedness
it offers. I am glad to be under Garibaldi’s roof.
The PAC would love our participation and we could easily
have a sub-commitee to ensure that the particular needs of
the program would be addressed.
There’s much enthusiasm and hopes for building this
rich community.
We have much to share.

Howdy all,
Thanks Jacinda and Mary Ann for making it to the GA PAC meeting.
Thank you Shannon for responding to anonymous.
I made some headway in our mission statement resource project.
Shannon helped me photo copy some info packets today.
These packets contain the VSB mission statement and beliefs, the new vision proposal for Garibaldi Annex, and some key principles of the Reggio Emilia program.
They are located on the parent resource shelf.
We don’t have a date on the next parent meeting, so we will try to get something arranged for November.
In preparation to make a mission statement and a future vision, I thought it might be nice if EACH parent make a list of our top 3 to 10 reasons why we choose to home school or school not at school.
I think these will help us understand each other and make sure that our final mission statement respects each voice.
