I put out the idea once of a lemonade stand that the children could operate as a learning project. They could build the stand, do the budget, and operate it at events.
Just a thought.

Funny fundraising.
We are part of a new program, and we need some stuff.
I am finding some of my gently used items to donate to the program, while I wrap my head around fundraising.
Our kids ask us for help, we ask others for help.
Sounds simple, but when finances are concerned it can become complicated.
I am hoping we can use this topic board to navigate some of the issues.
What do we need?
ie. bookshelves, books for home learning parents, legos…
Do we fundraise as a group or independently ?
ie. both
What is the first goal, what do we need most?
ie. ?
What else besides bulb sales, has been done?
What other ideas do we have?
Cheers
My kids would like to do something like a lemonade stand, hot chocolate stand or healthy snack stand. Maybe a first goal would to be raise a little money to cover things like childcare for parent meetings and to open a bank account. Other than that I think we need to get input from everyone to prioritize fundraising.
I think Shannon did the bulb fundraising.

I wish I could participate more in the parents’ meetings, but they always seem to be held during times when I am at work.
If anyone is amenable to having a meeting on Thursday or Friday after 4:00, or on the weekend, I would gladly offer the common room of our co-op as a site where we could meet (we’re about fourteen blocks from Garibaldi Annex).
I like the idea of a lemonade/healthy snack stand, too!
Best, Seema
Through Kali’s preschool we did a fundraiser selling stainles steel products i.e water bottles, sandwich containers, portable silverware etc.. just another idea to throw out there.
I too have been imagining lemonbalm icetea stands…
Another time for meetings would work for me too.
Thanks for that suggestion Seema.
I am wondering if some kids and folks are interested in a
fermentation learning party.
I have good connections on this front and would love to rustle up
some interest from all these juicy home learners.
Anyone interested?
Let me know.
Best,
Jacinda
