World Space Week Oct. 4-10

Not only is 2009 the U.N.’s International Year of Astronomy, but 2009 is also the tenth anniversary of the U.N.’s World Space Week.  The theme of this year’s week is:  Space for Education.

If you would like to explore space, do some activities or projects, or learn about specific topics related to space, there are two excellent web sites that should serve you and your children as starting and jumping-off points for learning about all things Space!  Enjoy!

The first website is the “official” website of World Space Week.  It isn’t commercial and is a bit unpolished, but is a diamond in the rough!

The other website that is very good is the World Book at NASA for Students.  It has image boxes for dozens of  topics such as “the moon,” “ozone,” “solar system,” “air,” and so forth.  A wonderful resource!

Happy imagining, learning and exploring!  Happy World Space Week!
