Lunar Fest 2011

Hello Home Learners!

I’d like to inform you of an exciting event that is coming up: the Lunar Fest 2011 will take place from Feb. 3-13, and will be held downtown at the Art Gallery Plaza. The Lunar Fest is a public festival which focuses on highlighting Asian art, and incorporates a number of family oriented activities. The theme of this year’s Lunar Fest is oceans and sea life. Please visit http://lunarfest.org for more information.  As part of the festival there is a contest in which Vancouver students are invited to create designs for lanterns which will illuminate the streets during the festival. Student designs which are selected will be transformed into lanterns and will be displayed downtown during the Lunar Fest. Students in our afternoon programs have just begun working on these designs, and will continue to work on them next week. I will sign up interested students to enter their designs in the contest. Note that as the Lunar Fest takes place each day from 4-11pm, we will not be visiting as a class, but hopefully you will be able to check out the events as a family. Take a look at the website – it looks like a great event!
