On Wednesday, October 3rd and Thursday, October 4th the Home Learners are booked to go to the PNE Discovery Farm for their Science of Agriculture field trip.
The Science of Agriculture program is a guided experience that will demonstrate how animal and plant science applies in the world of farming. Food is a basic necessity of life but is something we often don’t think about in our urban environment. Food also plays a role in our communities. Agriculture and agricultural land plays a role in the establishment and development of our towns, cities and provinces. Communities in B.C. produce food for our province, for Canada, and for the world.
Wednesday or Thursday, October 3rd or 4th:
Start Time: 9:30 a.m. (at the PNE Barns – Please see attached Map12-Science of Ag for directions)
End Time: 11:30 a.m.
Transportation to the field trip is on your own. Students may walk back with the Teachers to Garibaldi following the field trip. Please drop your child off with their snacks and lunch if they will be walking back with us to continue their day. Rain or shine!
Cost: $10.00 per student. Only registered HL students may attend.
Monday/Wednesday students will participate in the Wednesday field trip while Tuesday/Thursday students will participate in the Thursday field trip.
Field Trip forms are now in your files. In order to participate, please fill out the bottom portion of your form and put in your teacher’s file. Only those students who have forms filled out prior to the field trip will be able to participate. Due to liability issues there will be no exceptions to this policy for this, or any Garibaldi Home Learners’ field trips. We cannot accept field trip forms at field trip sites on the day of, again due to provider and VSB liability issues, we must confirm the number of students and guardians attending a field trip no less than one day prior to an excursion. Families arriving at field trips with forms in hand will not be able to participate.
If you would like to use your allotment funding to cover the cost of this field trip, please fill out a yellow allotment form and submit it with the field trip form, again, prior to the event.
